eBoards and Educause
Lookie me! You’d think I was all smart and stuff:
E-Board: Real-Time Event Information Display for a Clutter-Free Campus
For the past year I’ve been working on a project to place electronic information boards (eBoards) around campus here at TC. The pilot eBoard was a 42 inch plasma TV screen placed just inside Main Hall. Half of the screen displays the next 10 or so public events happening on campus, along with location and time. The other half displays poster-like ads for future events. The snazzy part is that the current events are fed real time from our room assignments database, meaning if a room location changes, the eBoard will reflect the change instantly (well, at most 2 minutes until the next page refresh).
My old boss urged me to do a write-up and submit it to Educause. They liked it, so I’ll be presenting at the October conference.
